During September
2005 Access Arts and a number of partners were engaged in the
delivery of Sound CirclesTM at the 2005 World Expo in
Aichi, Japan.
Funded by Arts Queensland Major Grants, thirteen people from
across the state delivered the Sound CirclesTM Toolkit
developed during 2004-2005 by artists and participants from
throughout regional Queensland in the World Expo NGO Village
themed Learning For Sustainability during September 2005

The team also traveled to the beautiful Nara region to deliver
a workshop program at the Tanpopo-No-Ye HANA Centre. On returning
to Queensland the team, in collaboration with Arts Nexus, led a team of forty three Sound Circlers from South East Queensland
and the South Burnett to meet with Nth Queensland Sound Circlers
at Sound CirclesTM Summit in Cairns and at the Yungaburra
Festival.
The Sound CirclesTM Toolkit was released during The Queensland
Music Festival 11th World Music Therapy Congress in Brisbane,
the South Burnett, Cairns, Innisfail and Caboolture in July
with the assistance of The Regional Arts Fund, RADF and QMF.
The outcomes
of the Sound CirclesTM project have been spectacular
and there is a huge interest from individuals and organisations
to participate.
Access Arts has also invested in a program in partnership with
number of regional/remote communities during 2006. Access
Arts is keen to train Sound CirclesTM facilitators and
Sound CirclesTM Toolkits are available to organisations
and communities.
