All Access Arts policies relate to all Staff as well as Members.
Access Arts Inc. defines a Member as any person who has filled out a membership
form to join the organisation.
Staff are defined as persons engaged in Office, workshop/project or program,
Volunteer or Student placement work at Access Arts Inc.
Definition:
- Disruptive behaviour is any action that may cause harm to another person
or yourself, whether it is verbal or physical.
Purpose:
To prevent harm being caused to any person involved with Access Arts Inc. due
to disruptive behaviour.
Aims:
To ensure that all Members and Staff are aware of what constitutes a
disruptive behaviour.
To inform all Members and Staff that continued disruptive behaviour
is not acceptable.
To promote the safety of all persons involved with Access Arts Inc.
To ensure that the appropriate Staff members are informed of any disruptive
behaviour.
To ensure that any disruptive behaviour does not continue to harm or
affect any individual at Access Arts Inc.
Policy:
Upon their appointment all Employees, Volunteers and Student Placements
must be made aware of the Behavioural Policy and Procedure.
All Members must have easy access to the Behavioural Policy and Procedure
if they wish to clarify what constitutes disruptive behaviour.
All cases of disruptive behaviour must be reported to the Senior Staff
Member present who will the report it to the Executive Director if required.
Access Arts must ensure that all attempts are made to resolve the disruptive
behaviour through consultation with the person(s) involved, Senior Staff, the
Executive Director and Emergency Contact person(s) (e.g. parents, carers or
guardians).
If continued disruptive behaviour is not able to be resolved, the person(s)
carrying out the disruptive behaviour will be asked to leave the workshop or
program until reviewed by the Executive Director or his/her delegate.
The Enrolment List must be located with a designated Staff Member at
every workshop or project site at all times. Emergency Contacts for each Member
must also be located under the s:drive in the Enrolments List on every office
computer.
Behavioural Proceedure
If any behaviour displayed by a Member leads to, or constitutes disruptive
behaviour during any program/project, the Staff Member or Member who observes
the behaviour is to immediately alert a Senior Staff Member.
If the behaviour continues to disrupt the program/project, the Senior Staff
Member responsible for the program/project should direct that the Member be
removed from the session under the supervision of workshop Staff as appointed
by the Senior Staff Member.
If the matter can be resolved, the Member may be allowed to return to the
session.
If the behaviour continues, the appointed Staff Member will ring the appropriate
numbers listed for that person on the Enrolment List, and ask the person listed
to pickup the Member.
If the people listed on the Enrolment List or Database cannot be contacted
ring 000 and ask for the appropriate service (If the Senior Staff Member deems
it necessary). Otherwise the person(s) concerned must remain outside of the
workshop or program until its conclusion.
The Senior Staff Member will then arrange for follow up with the Emergency
Contact (or carer, parents or guardian) as required.
An Incident Report form must be completed by the workshop/program Staff
and given to the Executive Director.
The Executive Director will assess the situation and take further action
if needed.
A copy of the Incident Report must be placed in the Member’s file
along with documentation of action taken.
