All Access Arts policies relate to all Staff as well as Members.
Access Arts Inc. defines a Member as any person who has filled out a membership form to join the organisation.
Staff are defined as persons engaged in Office, workshop/project or program, Volunteer or Student placement work at Access Arts Inc.
Definition: Transport is the travel from one place to another. It can be in forms such as train, taxi, bus, ferry or car.
Policy:
- Access Arts does not own any vehicles, and therefore cannot provide transport or driver assistance for members on a regular basis.
- Access Arts does not provide transport to members unless an arrangement has been made at least 3 weeks prior to the event. This is on a case-by-case basis, and is dependent on availability of staff.
- In cases where members are committed to independent travel to come to Access Arts programs, Access Arts will make every effort to assist them to do so either by providing support for them to attend the first time or referring them to services who can support the transition to independent travel.
- With prior arrangement, dependent on availability of Staff and volunteers, Access Arts can provide a driver to pick up members from the train station or can arrange to meet members at the ferry stop, bus stop or taxi drop-off point.
- In some programs and projects, there is some capacity for transport assistance. This is on a case-by-case basis and is dependent on available funding.
- Transport assistance can include a contribution towards taxi or public transport fares, pre-arranged driver for transport to Access Arts programs and events.
- Any reimbursement for travel costs for Members, Staff and Volunteers must be approved by the Executive Director or their delegate.
- All drivers at Access Arts must complete a driver's declaration form prior to transporting members.
- All drivers at Access Arts must have a positive criminal history check through Disability Services Qld.
- All drivers at Access Arts must complete Access Arts’ Disability Awareness Training.
